This show not yet on the road...

Jambo! Thank you for checking out our blog. In a few short weeks we'll be departing for Kenya to start our 27 month service as Peace Corps volunteers. We are incredibly excited (and a little anxious) to get started. Before we head out, we want to thank everyone for all the support and encouragement along the way, and introduce you to the blog we'll be keeping while in Kenya.

We hope to use this spot to post stories and photos of our day to day life in Kenya. You will also be able to post messages for us, but please remember that blogs are for all to see. So as a general rule, if it's a personal message send it to our email accounts.

Since this is our first entry, we thought we'd provide a little background on Kenya. For the geographically-challenged among us, Kenya is located in equatorial east Africa between Uganda and the Indian Ocean. It's a diverse country, geographically and culturally. Probably the most fascinating thing--for the outdoor enthusiasts--is that Mt. Kenya lies in the heart of Kenya and directly on the equator, yet it is covered by a glacier. The same is true of Kilimanjaro, which lies to the south on the Kenyan/Tanzania border.

There are so many interesting things about Kenya that I'm sure we'll learn and share. So, check back often.

In the meantime, if you are interested in learning more about Kenya, the following sites will provide a bit more general information. We are also hoping to add reviews and recommendations of great books to read on Kenya as well. (Stay tuned.) In the meantime, see the following websites for basic facts:

Until next time. Much love,

Nick and Jennie
